[At first there's static, then a sharp breath can be heard over the com as the machine's dropped. Seconds later a  tilted image of a kitchen comes into view. In the kitchen is a table covered with tools and bits and pieces of metal and other miscelaneous things.

However, there is also someone sitting at the table with their head resting on their arms, covered in blood. Within seconds, Washu rushes on screen to touch the dead woman. Hands immediately comb through the cyanne hair, brushing it away from a peaceful face. Soft sobbing can be heard from Washu  locates various bloody wounds. Soon enough its obvious to her what the woman died from, a stab wound to the chest
.]

Little Ryoko, stop this... You're scaring your mother! I built you to be stronger than this. Please Little Ryoko, open your eyes! Yell at me, anything! Come on, do you want Tenchi to see you like this? You can't be dead.. you've survived worse!

[Washu hugs the corpse to her small frame and cries as the device times out at last.]

... Washu...

[Haer'Dalis was unsure about what words of consolation could even be said in such an instance.]

I... I am truly sorry. Are you... sure it is your daughter? Are there any distinguishing birth marks or...

[He pauses knowing this might be a sensitive area for him to be stepping.]

Is there... anything I can do?

[It will take her a while before responding. When she does, she's looking rather worse for wear.]

A mother knows her own daughter.

[She fell silent for several long moments as she strokes the woman's bloody cheek.]

Make this stop. She can't be dead like this.

From what you have told me of your daughter, it does seem unlikely to me that she would die very easily. Not to mention that she was not a resident here before now, and the scientists have never brought someone here that they did not either resurrect or brought here alive. Given these facts and that many others recently have seen the dead bodies of loved ones... it leads me to believe that she indeed can't be dead like this.

Would you like me to come over there? I have just recently made it back to Discedo.

[He was probably right. Still, Washu can't help but take seeing her daughter like this even if its not really her. To confirm his suspicions she runs a hand down the corpses arm.. and turns over her wrist.

No gems.. Washu breathes a soft sigh of Relief.]

Yes, please Haer'Dalis.

[The door would open moments later to reveal a disheveled Washu. Despite her small size and child like appearance, somehow she managed to look much older at this moment. Perhaps it was... the sight of someone so dear to her like this.

She lets him in and turns back towards the corpse sitting at the table.]

...You're right, it's not her. She lacks the gems...

[There's a soft intake of breath.]

But it looks so much like my daughter. I just... Whoever is doing this is going to pay.

[There was this definite part of Haer'Dalis that wanted to hug Washu to try to comfort her, but he wasn't sure if it was truly his place to do so. Not knowing what else to do, he nodded entering to see the clearly dead blue haired girl at the table. He pauses when he hears the words gems, his ears automatically picking up at the mention of jewels.]

Gems? You're daughter had gems?

[He wracks his brain trying to remember to back when Washu had told him about Ryoko, and thinks he vaguely remembers some sort of gems being involved.

He begins a soft chant, trying his hand at another one of his spells to see if the body was in fact an illusion. To his surprise it was not. It didn't mean that the girl was actually Ryoko, but it meant that someone went very far out of the way to create a dead duplicate.]

Normally I would assume this might be another ploy of the scientists that brought us here, but I do not truly know.

Yes, I created her to harness their power. I'm afraid I don't know where they came from, just... that they held great power. They were found with me when I was a baby.

[She glanced towards him when he began to chant and just.. observed for a few moments before turning back to the corpse. Even it it wasn't Ryoko, seeing it still upset the petite scientist.]

We'll have to figure that out. No one deserves this.

[Haer'Dalis had to resist the urge to chuckle at the fact that Washu created her daughter to harness their power. Many mages he had known would have created great artifacts to empower themselves with, but to actually create an offspring to do so... He couldn't help but admire it still. Yet now was not the time for such thoughts, as Haer'Dalis examined the body more with his magical sight.]

What bothers me is I can't pinpoint the age of the body. For all I know it has been in cold stasis for decades even, just waiting for some bizarre purpose, and I just can't tell. Then again, given the blood, I would have to assume it is recent...

Then there's also the question of... are they human, or are they made to look like humans, like how the doppelgangers stole people's skin.

[Ryoko was her greatest creation for a very good reason. Besides, the gems were useless to her. They just wouldn't work, so she built something it would work for. It was brilliant solution.]

If it were Ryoko, I would understand why age would be impossible to pinpoint, but since it's not, there should be nothing stopping you.

[Yes, she needed to focus on something else, something non emotional. Science fit her needs rather well. Especially now.]

If you remember, I arrived at the tail end of the doppelganger fiasco so I don't know much about them. However, If they were created, I would consider the possibility of clones raised in a laboratory. It would be nothing to grow the body and then kill it without the clone ever being alive to begin with.

Cloning you say? I've seen a bit of cloning myself in my time, although this is a much better done clone than what I saw. I suppose this may in fact be a clone, but whether or not they made it from scratch, or if they took a sample from the original... that is another question.

[He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. Thinking of this as a bit of a lab project was much easier on the psyche, so he was glad to try to lead it in that direction.]

It's actually possible that they may have taken samples from our memories to create these clones. They may have attempted to find in our minds the ones we hold most dear, and then at a later date they shaped the clones in whatever way they thought they would need to.

It would be near impossible to take a sample from Ryoko. The one time someone managed a clone of my daughter, they had to capture her first and even then it was a rather imperfect clone. At least~ it appeared that way to me.

[Though, she had to give Clay credit, Zero was a rather nice piece of work.]

To create a clone, one would need a sample from the original. Though with the right technology, they might have been able to use our memories. If that is the case, then I would really love to sit down with one of these so called 'scientists' and have a little chat.

That they used our memories is a possibility, but if that were the case they would likely have tried to replicate the gems in your daughter. That and their form may not have every detail about them correct, as the memory is a rather inconsistent recording device.

[Haer'Dalis looked a little nervous as if he was thinking of something that he likely should not be.]

This... may seem a little unorthodox, but may I try something with the body?

My memory happens to be rather good with detail. As for the gems, I'm not surprised they aren't here. They literally cannot be copied in any way. It's one of the gem's unique properties that I haven't quite figured out. I assume it has to do with the power they contain.

[Her emerald eyes narrow as he asks.]

That depends, what do you want to do.

Hmm...

[He paused tasting something... off.]

Well that's strange. It tastes exactly identical to what it should taste like. Human(Or insert species here), female, but... hmm... there is only one thing I can really say that tastes peculiar. It's like... hmm... the taste is like... it's a bit like the taste you get when you freeze something, then it get's exposed to open air, and then frozen, and then thawed again... It's... a little bizarre.

I don't know how else to describe it, but otherwise I cannot detect any abnormalities whatsoever.

It's the closest I can think of that sums up what you described.

[She lets out a soft sigh and glances at the body again, this time smoothing away a lock of cyan hair.]

Usually, I would insist on dissection and identification of the copy.. but I just don't have the heart to. Even if she isn't, she looks too much like my Little Ryoko. I feel like I should bury her... or cremate her.

[The tales of the 9 layers of hell can take days to describe if Haer'Dalis had really wanted to go on about it. However, he knew there were more important matters to deal with.]

Then that likely is an accurate enough description.

[Haer'Dalis looked down at the poor girl with a look of pity on his face.]

I can understand that. It is truly hard to do that to a loved one. Perhaps we could find another of the bodies at a later date to work on, but I agree that perhaps it is for the best to bury her. I would not advice cremation, as when I tried that on the corpses I dealt with, the simply reappeared without having been burned elsewhere. Burying may have more permanent results.
