crabbygenius: (Inventing!)

So what's this? Well whose ever it is, it's mine now.

[The video flips on to display a very much alive and grinning Washu. Though... anyone who knows her may notice something different about the scientist. For one, she looks 18 and her hair is much, much shorter then its usual long red locks. Yes, Washu looks ages younger. Her clothes are even different though all the viewer can see is the black tanktop.]

So this thing has a video and audio feed and text ability. I wonder who left it. It's kind of primitive, there isn't even a holo screen! Well, whatever, it's mine now. I'll just add one when I find the parts.

What I want to know now is, where am I? This isn't my lab at the academy and this doesn't look like one of our usual field trips.

[Playful emerald eyes peer closer into the camera.]

There has to be others out there or this thing wouldn't work. And another thing, why am I in a crappy hospital that looks like a war just happened?

[She spins the camera around to display the room she's in... which happens to be Washu's old office. It definitely looks like it's seen better days. More so then usual.]

So Answers please.

What do you mean what happened to me? Who the hell are you?

[Sorry, but she definitely doesn't know who you are and she hates it when people are rude to her.]

[Obviously this is the start of a beautiful second meeting fff.]

Seifer Almasy. Don't tell me you've forgotten my pretty face, gonna hurt my feelings.

You really got no clue where you are? If you're messin' with me Washu this ain't funny.

[Obviously. She looks a little skeptical at him.]

Look Seifer Almasy, I've never seen you before cause I never forget a cute face. And how do you know my name anyway?

Of course I don't know where I am. I wouldn't have asked if I knew. Besides, I think and up and coming genius like myself could come up with a better joke then this!

You told it to me, I think that'd be obvious. Tch. I've got questions for you- ...were you always this young?

Buddy, I'd remember if I told it to you.

And what do you mean was I always this young? Are you calling me old?

Coulda sworn you were older than me despite the fact you're short as can be. ...Hunh.

What's the last thing you remember?

Short? Look buddy, I'm only 9,000 years old. I am the right height for my age.

[Now that makes her pause. The last thing she remembered? What kind of question is that?]

I just got done working late in the labs. One of my professors gave me an extension on a prototype for his class that was due last week. Where else would I be? I'm not exactly dressed to go to a club you know.

[To prove her point she holds out the communicator so he can see what she's wearing. A black tank top, tan cargo pants and a tool belt with all sorts of random things in it. And leather gloves. There's even a pair of goggles around her neck.]

I was supposed to be sleeping. Apparently not.

... ... ...Got a point. [Looking pretty good for someone old enough to be his grandma like five thousand times removed.]

...Tch. Well you're in Discedo now and you were here before. Either that was another you or the scientists figured they'd mess with your head a bit. ...Or a couple other things, take your pick. I wouldn't run around on the streets though we've got some company about and they forgot to bring their manners.

[She ages slow normally. Go figure.]

Discedo? Never heard of it. Now whats this about scientists? This isn't one of my professors experiments again is it? I told him last time that if he valued his computer system that he should leave me out of it.

So where am I supposed to go? I can't just stay here and do nothing.

Considering this is the first time I've heard you mention professors I doubt it. Ever heard of a planet named Fortuna?

Tch... High school's good enough, s'right down the street. Think you can make it on your own?

Fortuna? No can't say I have. It's not part of the Juraian empire, that's for sure.

[She pauses a moment and frowns before shaking off an uneasy feeling at the mentioning of the school.]

Yeah, probably. It's just a quick walk down the street right? No problem.

Juraian empire hunh... You know more than me, never heard of the thing. Anyways some of the scientists here figured out time and space travel guess ya could say. They have a bad habit of dragging other other people here to live out whatever experiment they're running. They just don't happen to be very good at the running part. For now we're all stuck here, but things could be worse. Sides from the existence devouring monster in the southeast block I'd say we're doing pretty good for ourselves.

If you give the school a look around you might find some of your things from last time. Or other you's things, who knows. But that's where you were until... tch. Last I knew that's where you were.

[...]

Time travel is still theoretical. Space travel has been around for ages. You want me to believe someone's perfected one of the theories that some of my professors barely comprehend?

[The next part makes her pause.]

What do you mean there was another me? What happened at the school?

Y'wanna tell them that be my guest.

Think she was older. Was helping out around here as a doctor working out of the high school; you've seen the hospital. Last I saw her [...lol what does he say here? ...enh truth works.] she was kind of dead. Was waiting on you coming back actually, but I guess it doesn't matter now.

[She just remains silent for several moments. What.]

Dead.

[Washu just kind of.. gives him a look of disbelief.]

I'm supposed to be older and dead... and a doctor. I'm majoring in physics at the Universal Science Academy of Jurai. Medical classes are not a requirement. I'm a scientist, not a doctor.

[Fff he actually rolls his eyes and runs a hand up over the back of his head. Damn does he hate explaining things.]

The dead revive here. Don't ask me how, just happens. Far as being a doctor couldn't tell you. All I know is you know how to look at a dead body and, I'm assuming, remove a chip, which is enough for me. Before you ask the chip's a microchip in your body that limits any superhuman abilities you may have.

Anyone can come here from any point in time, it's not unusual to get dragged here from one time, sent back and then taken from another. There ain't no set rules for if you'll remember your time here or not either.

You hadn't noticed though we are in a bit of a crisis. Why don't you tell me what you can do and we'll work things out from there.

[She listens to the explanation and just accepts it for now.]

What can I do? I'm a genius. I spend a good portion of my time inventing or going over scientific notations. If I'm not doing that I'm programing something.

Whatever it is the other me could do, I can't. And to settle my curiosity, what could the other me do ?
